As you can see from the map above, Bad Mitterndorf lies almost bang in the middle of Austria!  In fact it's only 16 km from the geographical centre of the country and as such, it is really easy to get here by air, rail or road.

To get here by air :

You can fly into Salzburg, Linz, or Graz Airports, all of which are served regularly from London Stansted and Dublin by Ryanair.

You can fly to Vienna Airport from Heathrow with either Austrian Airlines or British Airways, and connecting flights are available from many regional airports in the U.K. and Ireland.

Munich Airport is also a good option, especially if you are coming from Scotland.  There are non-stop Easyjet flights between Edinburgh and Munich which cut down the total journey time from door to door quite a bit.

At all of the above airports you can rent a car.  The driving time to Bad Mitterndorf varies between 1½ hours (from Salzburg) and 3 hours (from Vienna or Munich).  Austrian roads are well sign-posted and are very well maintained at all times of the year.

To get here by rail :

The village railway station is located on a scenic regional line with trains stopping every two hours in each direction. Connections to our station are available via the main line stations of Stainach-Irdning or Attnang-Puchheim, from where you have access to express trains and also InterCity / international trains.

If you are travelling by train we will be more than happy to collect you at the Bad Mitterndorf station, which is only a five-minute walk from our house.

To get here by road :

Bad Mitterndorf is located just off the National Road (in German = Bundesstrasse) B145, between the towns of Bad Aussee and Irdning.  This Bundesstrasse runs past Bad Mitterndorf which, like many towns and villages in Austria, is by-passed to protect residents and visitors from traffic noise.

If you are approaching from Vienna or Graz (= north-east or south-east), first head for Liezen, then for Salzburg/Schladming on the Bundesstrasse B320, then turn right onto the B145.

Follow this road for approx 15km and you will be in Bad Mitterndorf.

If you are approaching from Salzburg, first take the A1 Motorway towards Vienna, then leave this motorway at Exit 274 (signposted to Hof).  From Hof, follow signs towards Graz and Bad Ischl on the B158.  At Bad Ischl you will pick up the B145 that will take you past Bad Aussee and on to Bad Mitterndorf.

How to find Pension Binder once you have reached Bad Mitterndorf :

Our house is really easy to find as we are located on the main village street, but set well back from the road behind our front garden.

If you are coming from Liezen (see above), turn right off the Bundesstrasse B145 at the 1st entrance into Bad Mitterndorf, shortly after you pass Krungl.

Follow the village street for approx 1½ km, until you pass the entrance to the Tauplitzalm Alpenstrasse on the right.  Approx. 200 metres beyond this is the entrance to our drive, also on the right.

If you are coming from Salzburg, turn left off the Bundesstrasse B145 at the 2^nd entrance into Bad Mitterndorf (at the Spar supermarket).  This is signposted towards Bad Mitterndorf Zentrum.

Follow this street as it curves along until it ends in a T-junction at the village main street.  Turn right here and follow the street past the Grimming Gwand und Sport shop (on your right) and approx. 200 metres beyond this on the left hand side is the entrance to our drive.
