In winter, Austria is a paradise for anyone who is looking for a great skiing holiday and a wonderful traditional atmosphere.

Bad Mitterndorf lies at an altitude of 810 metres above sea level and is one of the main places to stay for skiers wishing to enjoy the Tauplitzalm ski area, with over 40 km of downhill ski pistes.

(For those of you who haven’t heard of Tauplitzalm before, it’s famous within Austria as being a snow-sure area - when many other Alpine resorts are crying out for snow, it’s here aplenty!).

In the surrounding area there are over 200 km of beautifully prepared cross-country (or Langlauf) skiing tracks, all free of charge!

In summer there are few places that can match Austria, and particularly Bad Mitterndorf, as a destination for a walking or cycling holiday.  Located at the heart of a wide, relatively flat valley and surrounded by breathtaking scenery, there are over 120 km of marked walking paths to suit all levels of fitness.
